Short-term forecast

regional weather discussion... Scattered strong thunderstorms will continue moving northeast across the middle third of Oklahoma through 9 PM. Heavy downpours... frequent cloud to ground lightning... gusty winds... and hail will be possible. Radar at 8 PM indicated heavy thunderstorms scattered throughout central Oklahoma. The strongest storms were over northern Oklahoma between Enid and Newkirk... and over southern Oklahoma from near Waurika to Pauls Valley and Stratford. Another isolated heavy thunderstorms was between El Reno and Okarche. Movement of all of the storms was to the northeast at 20 to 25 mph. A general decrease in storm intensity is expected through the evening... but lingering instability will be sufficient to maintain the existing storms... and possibly allow new storms to form... throughout the central third of Oklahoma into the late evening. A cold front moving southeast through western Oklahoma also may initiate additional thunderstorms as it moves into central Oklahoma later tonight. Thunderstorm chances will end when the front passes and winds shift to the northwest. Small hail... gusty winds... and heavy rain will be possible with the storms this evening. There will be a continuing low chance of isolated severe storms. Large hail... perhaps to an inch or so in diameter... will be the main concern. Frequent cloud to ground lightning also may accompany the stronger storms.

Tuesday Night...Mostly clear. Lows in the upper 40s. Northeast winds around 10 mph in the evening becoming light and variable.
