Statement as of 2:49 PM CDT on September 10, 2010 ... Heat advisory remains in effect until 7 PM CDT Saturday... A heat advisory remains in effect until 7 PM CDT Saturday. Temperatures across portions of East Texas and north Louisiana are forecast to climb into the mid to upper 90s tomorrow afternoon. This... combined with ample low level moisture... will allow for heat index values to climb to around 105 degrees each day. Drier air is forecast to filter into the region on Sunday... allowing heat index values to fall below heat advisory criteria. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible. Drink plenty of fluids... stay in an air-conditioned room... stay out of the sun... and check up on relatives and neighbors. |
